ECS: a summer camp for
children and teenagers
Distinct programmes for all ages
We welcome pupils from at 8 to 17 at the ECS English residential summer school. We organise our courses into distinct age groups to give everyone the best learning and holiday experience.
In this way we are able to provide best for the needs of all our pupils, while allowing older and younger siblings to attend the same camp together.
Usually there are two age groups:
- children aged 8 - 12 years old
- and teenagers aged 13 - 17 years old.
There is flexibility for children on the boundary of these age group, selecting the group that best suits them. Sometimes in especially busy years, we form a third, middle group.
Each age group has its own accommodation, lessons and activity programme on the same campus.

Courses for children at ECS
For our younger pupils, the ECS summer camp focuses on learning through games, stories, crafts and drama. In the classroom we combine language learning with a range of wider educational topics, from science to history.
They receive round-the-clock care from house parents and all our activities, from trips to sports to social programme, are designed to help young pupils get to know each other, have fun and develop their language and social skills.

Courses for teenagers at ECS
Our English summer camp for teenagers aims to provide a balanced programme of lessons, workshops and recreational activities so that teens will improve their English, make new international friendships, make positive personal development and have a great holiday.
Teenagers aged 13 - 17 live in modern boarding houses in the school grounds. All pupils have their own room with hand basin, desk and wardrobe. Girls and boys live separately but can socialise together in shared common rooms.
Teenagers also have the option to join a special weekend visit to London.

Taking care pupils at ECS
For all ages, we strike a careful balance of supervision and freedom. Our focus is on creating a safe environment where pupils are supported, safe and happy, and also have the room they need to gain confidence and independence.
We have a staff to student ratio of 1:6 for all age groups. Our staff are experienced and well qualified and our comprehensive Child Safeguarding Policy is reviewed annually.
